Game Review: Super Lucky’s Tale

It was one of those moments when you are stood browsing games at the Xbox One X midnight launch looking for something new to play especially on the new console. I wasn’t sure what I was looking for or even if I was going to buy a game at the launch event or just wait until later in the day. I remember watching the Microsoft E3 press conference earlier this year and seeing Super Lucky’s Tale and it reminded me of playing games like Spyro, Rayman, Croc and Crash Bandicoot when I was younger. After some deliberation and chatting to the GAME team they persuaded me to pick up Super Lucky’s Tale.

I’ve played for a few hours this morning and I’m really enjoying the game so far. The game itself is pretty straight forward and similar to other platformer games and your aim is to defeat the evil Kitty Litter and save the various worlds. Of course you can only progress through if you have enough clovers to open the doors.

The worlds have plenty to explore as well. With puzzles to complete for more clovers, coins to collect, timed coin runs for bonus surprises. The graphics really do help the worlds come alive and in 4K look even better! Most of the characters I have run into sound like they are talking Simlish which is pretty amusing.  The overall feel of the game is pretty relaxing although saving the world is a big adventure in its self.

Super Lucky’s Tale is one of those games you’ll be able to pick up and put down as much as you want. It is perfect for those who want to trip back to their childhood or those who want to introduce a younger child to platform games or someone who is looking for an enjoyable and challenging platformer!

  1. Hi Krista,

Good review of Super Lucky’s Tale. A lot of reviews have been negative on it but I LOVE cutesy platformers so I need to get this.

It actually started out as a VR game on Occulus Rift. I got to play a demo of it last year and it was SO GOOD. I wonder why they canned the VR game?

    1. Thanks for checking out my review Liam 😀 I really do like platformer games and this is no exception. I only paid £20 for it and feel that it is worth it!

I’ve read a few reviews about the VR version of the game and really want to try it out at somepoint as well!
