When I saw Avengers Endgame the other day it was the first time I had actually visited my local Cineworld in months. This was down to purely just not having the time to go because of work commitments. It did, however, get me thinking about some of the upcoming movies that are being released throughout the rest of this year. Now there are many incredible looking movies being released this year but here are just a few that I am looking forward to seeing.
Release Date: June 2019
I’ve watched a few of the previous X-Men films here and there in the past but never to the point where I’ve seen them in order. Dark Phoenix however I’m somewhat excited to see when it is released but at the same time, I don’t want to get too over excited about it. From the trailer, I think it looks interesting and it would be nice to find out exactly what happens to Jean in this story and how she becomes Dark Phoenix
Toy Story 4
Release Date: June 2019
I can still remember the first time I ever saw the original Toy Story movie and since that moment the franchise has always had a special place in my childhood. While I was a little bit skeptical of a fourth installment of the franchise after seeing the most recent trailer I’m fairly certain that I will love this entry to the franchise as much as the previous three.
Spider-Man: Far From Home
Release Date: July 2019
After seeing Avengers Endgame it only seems natural to go and see Spider-Man: Far From Home when it is released. I have to say that the Tom Holland era of Spider-Man has been my favorite so far although I have also enjoyed previous Spider-Man movies as well. It will be interesting to see how Far From Home plays out after the story in Avengers Endgame.
Hobbs & Shaw
Release Date: August 2019
Every year we see many new action/adventure movies released and twenty-nineteen is no different. I’m not too sure what to really expect from this movie but I’m sure it will be jammed packed and full of explosions and close calls just like the main Fast & Furious movies.
Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker
Release Date: December 2019
I don’t really have much to say about the upcoming Star Wars movie. I’m excited and a tiny bit nervous about what is going to happen next in the story. I grew up watching the original movies with my Dad and his brother so for me, it is only natural and normal to want to go and see the next entry into the franchise.
With so many incredible looking movies it really was hard to pick a small handful to write about for this post. These particular five are just some that stood out to me but there are many more that I can’t wait to see. This coming weekend I’m hoping to see Detective Pikachu as well as The Hustle and that will be another two movies watched for this year!
Why not let me know what movies you are looking forward to this year!
One thought on “Five Movies I’m Looking Forward To This Year”
I’m looking forward to seeing what Joaquin Phoenix does with his role as the Joker. From the trailer, the film looks like a really interesting character portrayal of the infamous clown and Phoenix seems to be releasing the opportunity.
Quite cleverly, it seems they have made this portrayal far enough from Ledger’s performance that they aren’t really ‘competing’ which is probably a wise move.
Likewise, I’m also v.interested to see if JJ Abrams can course-correct the final trilogy of the saga after the turbulence experienced in Episode 8.. 🤔😂👍
