First Impressions: Animal Crossing New Horizons

Like many people over the past few days, I’ve been playing a fair amount of Animal Crossing New Horizons. Many people have said that the game’s release has been perfect timing considering what many of us are experiencing at the moment.

I’ve played several of the previous Animal Crossing games including Wild World, New Leaf and also Happy Home Designer. While I’ve always thoroughly enjoyed playing the Animal Crossing games, I don’t feel like I’ve ever truly experienced what each game has to offer. I can say that I’ve played countless hours of the games but there is still a lot I don’t know.

With Animal Crossing New Horizons I decided that was going to change. I wanted to not only take the game each day as it comes but to experience and discover as much of what the game has to offer as I can without feeling like I need to rush. There really is no right or wrong way to play an Animal Crossing game at the end of the day you just do what you want to do.

I’ve been playing for a few hours each day since the game was released and it has really been a great way to pass time as well as being a good distraction for a variety of reasons. After listening to Tom Nook’s Daily Broadcast, I’ve been making sure to do daily tasks like grabbing my NookMiles, checking the recycling box and talking to residents as well as collecting materials and seeing how much further in debt I become to Tom Nook. Of course, there is always plenty to do around the Island.

From what I have played of the game so far, it has been the perfect break from everything else that has been going on. I’ve been visiting my friend’s Islands, exploring the mystery tour islands to gather more materials as well as finding more bugs and fish for Blathers and taking photos with the Villagers and my friends. To be honest, words can not describe how much I’m enjoying Animal Crossing New Horizons so far and I look forward to picking up the game each day even if it’s just for an hour or several hours just to see what the game has planned for me.
