Let’s Talk: PlayStation 5 Livestream

Yesterday’s PlayStation 5 live stream for me was amazing. In the past, I never really paid much attention to Playstation live streams or press conferences as I’ve always felt somewhat behind in the world of PlayStation for some reason. I’m not too sure why I’ve just always felt this way a little bit.

With the start of the live stream approaching, I had an idea of what to expect but at the same time I wasn’t getting my hopes up on wanting to see something in particular. However, throughout the whole presentation, I found myself excited to find out more about some of the games, blown away by graphics and art styles, curious about what could happen within a game and overall extremely happy with the live stream as a whole.

Although I enjoyed the whole live stream, there were, of course, a few favourites that stood out to me!

Stray

Stray instantly caught my eye even before I noticed that you are essentially going to be playing as a cat! At first, I thought you would be playing as one of the robots and that the cat was a companion but I was definitely wrong. I’m looking forward to following the development of the game up until the release next year.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits

When the trailer started for Kena: Bridge of Sprits and we were first shown the cute little fluffy animals, I instantly thought of Toothless from How To Train Your Dragon. The game itself looks incredible. I love the graphics and the art style and thinking about what the story could be based on what was shown in the trailer and there are so many possibilities as to what it could be!

Horizon Forbidden West

I’m not going to talk too much about Horizon Forbidden West but this was definetly my favourite reveal of the live stream. I can’t wait to join Aloy on her next adventure! Everything that was shown in the trailer looks amazing!

Spider-Man: Miles Morales

I loved playing Spider-Man on PlayStation 4 and seeing that there is another game joining the franchise makes me want to go back and play the first one again but I’m also excited to play the next game.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart

It’s been an incredibly long time since I played a Ratchet and Clank game in any form and even then I still have never played one properly to this date. As soon as the trailer started I instantly knew it was Ratchet and Clank and even though it was only pre-alpha footage being shown, it still looked amazing!

Sackboy! A Big Adventure

Everything about this just screamed nostalgia to me. I always have enjoyed playing the Little Big Planet games in the past and this makes me excited to go on another adventure with Sackboy again.

The live stream had so much to showcase and offer and the games that I’ve talked about above were just some of the ones that stood out to me the most. Deathloop was another game that looks promising as well as the Project Aitha game from Square Enix. Resident Evil Village and Demon’s Soul, although aren’t my kind of game do look like they will also be good fun. The only game that left me with some mixed feelings was Bugsnax. While it looks somewhat interesting, I was still a bit confused as to what the game was about. No PlayStation event would be complete without the mention of a Grand Theft Auto game. It is great to see that GTA V will be heading to PlayStation 5, it does feel like it is trying to give Skyrim and Just Dance a run for their money for how many consoles/platforms it is released on (of course I mean this in a completely. lighthearted and fun way)

Most importantly, the PlayStation 5 itself. I’d seen plenty of the rumoured designs of the console online over the past few months as many of us probably have done and I really did not want to get my hopes up as to how it could and would look like. While I’m still undecided as to if and when I will get a PlayStation 5, I have to say that I do like the design of the console. While it is different from previous PlayStation consoles and it may somewhat resemble a Wifi Router but I don’t feel that it is terrible.

For myself, right now I’m going to wait to find out more about the pricing of the console and also if there will be some form of backwards compatibility with the PlayStation 4 before I make any kind of decision although I know if I decide to get one that is more likely to be something I pick up next year rather than at launch.

Let me know what you thought of yesterday’s PlayStation 5 live stream and what some of your favourite moments were!

  1. I loved the games on show! I also need to know more about the console but absolutely loving how much focus Sony put on the game’s we’ll be experiencing. Miles Morales and Sackboy are my two most wanted 🙂

    1. The game reveals side of the presentation was amazing but hopefully Sony will release some information about the console and pricing soon. I’ve seen a few rumoured prices floating around online but I don’t want to be too quick on making a decision.

  2. Sony definitely had a great presentation. Kena was my favorite game shown so far.. I think it looked a bit like Zelda meets Pikmin and that got me interested. I also like that they did a digital model and a physical model to make one more cost efficient. I think in this day and age that was a smart call.

I disliked that they did not give a price range though… makes me think it will be rather expensive and they will just drop it to whatever Microsoft will be at. While I do like the console design I do not really have the space for a standing up console in my current apartment so I will stick to the Switch for now and will snipe one once the extra models come out.

    1. Kena was another one of my favourite reveals too! I can’t say I’m surprised that there is two variants of the PS5, I think I was more surprised to see it revealed alongside the physical disc version of the PS5 but I think having both options is a great idea.

I have seen some rumoured prices online and but I don’t want to be too quick and assume that they are the actual prices. I have seen one or two images of the PS5 being able to bed led on the side but again that takes up just as much space I guess. I do think it will be well into next year before I look at picking one up but likewise, I’ll be sticking with what I’ve got for now too 🙂
