First Impressions: Watch Dogs Legion

I’ve had a bit of a mixed ride with the Watch Dogs games in the past. While I loved playing through the first two games, I eventually took a break from both a few months before returning to try and complete more. I wouldn’t say it was due to being frustrated with the game but more to do with becoming distracted by other games or feeling a little bit bored. Luckily this didn’t last too long with both games and I managed to pretty much complete them.

Now, Watch Dogs: Legion caught my eye instantly when it was first revealed at E3 2019. Seeing London revealed I was intrigued to find out more. As more and more of the trailer was shown, the more I couldn’t wait to find out more.

Fast forward to October 2020 and I’m about to jump in for the very first time. I didn’t really know what to expect at the start or how the story would unfold. Would there be a back story or something to bring me up to speed? How would I find out how London ended up in the state that it was now in. Luckily the opening segment to the game prepared me for everything I needed to know, or so I thought.

Currently, I’m about twenty hours into the game and I’m definitely enjoying it. I’d like to hope I’m around halfway through the main story but at the same time, I feel like I am nowhere near that far through. I do find myself spending a lot of time searching for the perfect people to join my team so I can utilize the skills they bring to the max. On the other hand, I spend a lot of time causing havoc with traffic, hacking drones, and distracting members of the general public. Sometimes the odd high-level police chase through London too.

I’ve actually enjoyed searching around London to find the perfect people to join my team. It’s been an interesting approach instead of being tied to just a handful of characters. There are so many options to create the perfect team to take on the corruption in London.

One other thing that I’ve loved playing around with is the photo mode. It somewhat gives you that tourist experience as you explore London but you can be badass at the same time.

Overall Watch Dogs: Legion has been great fun. It’s had me on the edge of my seat, asking numerous questions about the story but also fun and lighthearted as I take it slow and explore the capital at my own pace. I can’t wait to see how the story unfolds but I’m really just taking it at my own pace for now!
