The Sunshine Blogger Award: Honest Gamer Edition

A few weeks ago Stephen from Honest Gamer tagged me in their Sunshine Blogger Award Post. Thank you so much for nominating me I can’t wait to share my answers to your questions. I always enjoy doing these types of posts as the questions always get you thinking out of the box a bit and are always just great fun to do!

If you could have a new entry from your favourite video game franchise, but in a new genre, what would it be?

I’d have to say The Sims but more of a cross between The Sims Bustin’ Out and The Urbz. As for the genre I’d say a mixture of action/adventure mixed with some RPG aspects. I don’t know if the idea makes sense or even hypothetically could work, but it would be interesting to see one day.

What video game crossover would you love to see happen?

Right now, I’d love a Pokémon X Animal Crossing New Horizons crossover.

What platform did you start gaming on?

PlayStation One/ PC

There is often talk about difficulty vs accessibility in video games. Do you think that developers should have to include difficulty settings in their games?

I think developers should include difficulty settings in their games where possible. I don’t see it as a negative having various levels of difficulty in a game at all. However, I do feel that games should be made as accessible as possible so that everyone can enjoy videos games as much as possible.

Which legendary video game franchise do you think has the better music, The Legend of Zelda or Final Fantasy?

This is such a difficult one to answer. I love both The Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy, but I’d have to say Final Fantasy at the moment.

What popular video game, movie or book series could you not get into?

As much as I really wanted to enjoy The Witcher games, I just couldn’t get into them. However, I absolutely loved the Netflix adaptation and I can’t wait for Season Two to be released!

Serious question now….dogs or cats?

Cats. Definitely cats.

What three indie games do you recommend and why?

The three indie games that I would recommend at the moment are Littlewood, Cosy Grove and Phogs. I’m currently playing these on Nintendo Switch. The first two being great fun and also if you’re a fan of either Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing you’ll enjoy both of these. They are both easy to pick up and play as and when you want a chilled out gaming session.

On the other hand, Phogs is just pure chaos but in a good way. It’s a game that I have been following since I first saw it showcased at EGX Rezzed a few years ago. After playing the demo I just couldn’t wait to play the full game. You can play it on your own or with a second player but either way it’s great fun and I honestly haven’t laughed so much while playing a game for a long time.

What do video games mean to you?

For me, video games mean a lot of different things. It’s a way of discovering new stories, embarking on incredible adventures and learning countless new skills. It gives you a chance to escape the real world and immerse yourself in another. However, it’s also the communities and friends I’ve made because of video games that make the experience even more wonderful and amazing.

I had lots of fun answering these questions from Stephen! In fact, there were a few that left me stumped on how to answer them initially as I just had so many ideas in mind at the time. Thank you again for nominating me!

  1. Some really great answers here, thanks for taking the time to respond.
Accessibility options are so important to make as many people physically able to play that game. The Last of Us 2 did amazingly in this regard.
In terms of difficulty, I think there should be options for most games. The only exceptions would be those where challenge/difficulty is the main focus of the game. Ones like Dark Souls are made specifically for those wanting a challenge. Its entire design is built around it.
A Pokemon and Animal Crossing crossover would be so interesting, I hadn’t thought of that 😅
