Usually at the start of a new year, I like to take a look at the upcoming games coming out over the next twelve months. Instead, I decided to talk about the games I was excited for in smaller sections within other posts. Now as we are halfway through May, a number of upcoming video games have been announced since the year started and the list of upcoming releases that I’m excited for (as well as my backlog) continues to grow.
For today’s post, I decided to take a look at five upcoming video games that I’m excited to check out!
Final Fantasy XIV Online: Endwalker Expansion
I’ve been hooked on playing Final Fantasy XIV again (as well as Final Fantasy XV) and I’ve just been having so much fun playing again. I managed to watch a fair bit of the Final Fantasy Fan Festival over the past weekend and seeing the team talk about the upcoming Endwalker Expansion made me excited to pre-order it ready for later in November. There’s so much in the new expansion I can’t wait to play, and I’m really excited to check out the new Reaper and Sage Jobs too.
Mario Golf: Super Rush
It’s a golf game. No further explanation is needed other than that.
Okay, truth be told, the Mario Golf games are somewhat sentimental and hold a lot of memories for me and when I heard a new one was coming out I knew I’d be picking it regardless.
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl
The original Pokémon Diamond and Pearl games were the first ones that my brother and I were able to enjoy together. He was at an age where he understood more about the world of Pokémon as well as starting to play the games properly. Being able to share that knowledge that I had about Pokémon made the whole experience of playing through the original Pokémon Diamond and Pearl games even more magical.
As for the new versions of the game, I’m excited to resist the story again and the new art style looks so adorable too!
Kena: Bridge of Spirits
Ever since I saw the first reveal trailer for this game I was sold! The trailer had me wanting more, wanting to know more about the story, discover more about the characters, the world, the wildlife and of course just wanting to experience such an adorable looking game. There is so much about this game that I’m excited for and August can not come soon enough!
Horizon Forbidden West
I loved the first Horizon Zero Dawn game, and I’m currently playing through the game again, so I can also play through the Frozen Wilds content too. From what has been shared so far for the upcoming game it looks incredible. There is no other way that I can explain it other than that. Horizon Zero Dawn was one of the main reasons I wanted to pick up a PlayStation 4 and was the first game that I played when I did get one. I’m hoping that once Horizon Forbidden West is released that it is just as captivating and magical as the first time I played Horizon Zero Dawn was.
