Returning to Teyvat

Over the last week or so, I’ve found Genshin Impact popping up almost everywhere. Be it on Twitter, in YouTube videos and even during everyday conversations with my friends. Now, prior to starting Genshin Impact over the last couple of days, I have played a little here and there, but I never found myself really connecting with the game as such. It was almost like it was a sign to start playing again, so I did just that.

I initially downloaded the game onto my PlayStation 4 when it was first released, only to give up due to the incredibly long download times. A few months later I tried on my old PC set up however, while it was playable, it wasn’t a great experience overall as my setup was at the lower end of the recommended requirements. I also considered trying it out on my iPad, but with only 32 GB of space overall, it took up a good chunk of my remaining storage. This time around, I’m back playing on PC and so far everything is running beautifully and smoothly.

As of today, I’m currently Adventurer Rank 10 and my character is level 19, and I’m about to start on the next main quest that’s available to me. To reacquaint myself with the
game, I’ve spent a lot of time re-exploring the areas I previously discovered as well as doing side quests, gathering resources and defeating enemies along the way. I think I’m ready to get back to the actual story line and finding out more about the other characters in game who I can also play as.

I can say that this time I’ve been having more fun and enjoying what I’ve played. I’m interested in finding out more about the story and characters, as well as finding my currently still missing sibling. I know that I’m a long way off of getting anywhere near the end game and that in itself will be an adventure in itself, but in the meantime I’ve got plenty to keep me occupied and lots to learn still. In fact, I still feel like I have learnt anything really since I originally started playing, but I’m sure I’ll get there.

If I remember rightly, there were talks for a Nintendo Switch port of the game, although there isn’t any release date yet, the port still appears to be in the works. I am keeping my fingers crossed for once it is released, that I will be able to continue playing where I left off on PC just like you can with the PC & Mobile versions of the game, but I guess I’ll just have to wait for more updates for now.

Do you play Genshin Impact? Let me know what you think and if you have any tips for a returning/beginner player!

  1. I haven’t played it, but there are a lot of people that I follow on Twitter that do. I’ve tried playing a lot of these games that are inspired by Breath of the Wild with more and less success. But I haven’t decided to try an sink any time into Genshin. I might give a shot at some point.
